Rogill Educational Consultancy was founded by Rod Clarke in 2008.
Rod has extensive experience in the field of education, he graduated from Johannesburg College of Education with a Higher Diploma in Education in 1983 having majored in Education, History, Child Guidance, Afrikaans and Bible Education. He then acheived his Bachelor of arts degree at the University of South Africa in 1994 majoring in Psychology and Education.
Rod spend 14,5 years of primary school teaching, teaching pupils in the age range 10 -13 or grade 4 – grade 7.
3 years as a Head of Department for the Intersen and Senior Primary Phases of a primary school ( i.e. pupils aged 10 – 13 or grade 4 – 7) and 4,5 years as a Primary School Principal.
In 2001 Rod left mainstream education and took up a position with READ Educational Trust a Non-Government Organisation specialising in the field of Literacy and School Management Development.
During the 7 year period he was involved extensively in the training of school Principals in a suite of courses designed to equip Principals with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage a school effectively and efficiently.
He also trained educators in the implementation of a Balanced Literacy/Language programme and ECD Practioners in a suite of ECD courses (Grade R in Context, Classroom Management and Planning, Facilitating Learning through Stories, Songs and Rhymes, Managing a Small Scale ECD School).
All of the training was backed up with monitoring and support visits.
In 2008 he took up a position with Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance as a lecturer which involved the lecturing of School Management Teams (Principals, Deputy Principals and Heads of Department) in an accredited “Accelerated Certificate in Education” specialising in School Management.
He then spent 5,5 Years as a Senior Project Manager for Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance which involved in the management of multiple Projects both for the Teacher Developement Directorate as well as the Leadership Directorate. All of the projects were managed for and on behalf of the Gauteng Department of Education.
During Rod’s time with READ Educational Trust and Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance he became aware that many principals and school leaders needed comprehensive guidelines for the successful running of schools in South Africa and started to put together a suite of training modules based on the T Y T T O process (Teach Yourself To Teach Others) to upskill all educational personnel and started marketing and selling these products throughout SouthAfrica.
In 2024 Rod joined Edutel ( A Higher Education Establishment ) as a Programme Co-Ordinator for the Advanced Certificate in Intermediary Phase Teaching where he now continues to try and make a difference in education in South Africa.
